It astonishes me how, in merely a few years, somebody whom I thought I knew very well could change and turn into a person that I do not recognize anymore. The things that make her endearing are almost gone, and I don’t know if she’s aware of it. Maybe I was the one who changed: she’s always been like that, and I just look at her differently now. Or perhaps, to maintain our life’s balance, we collect several selves and shift from one surface to another without becoming less of ourselves within.

I can relate. And in different situations, I am the one who changed and otherwise.
as what others say: "change IS good."
:)
i know a few people that have changed, and like you said, to a point unrecognizable. one thing is true...change is one constant thing.
The thing about growing 'up' is that change is the truly essential part as without it one does not develop progress and receive wisdom. To stagnate is not good. Your friend is just dragging behind and probably not willing to leave the comfort of the known parameters. Some people are like that. Nothing to worry over, just life in full flow.
even a SHELF changes from empty to full and vice versa, triggering the need for more or less shelves. :)
it might be worthwhile to talk to her about it... who knows, she probably thinks of you the same way? :)
hello everyone. i believe that traits evolve and survive because they have some adaptive value. change always has a purpose.
