What's in your bag?

Tuesday, October 27, 2009

They say that a woman’s handbag not only contains the items that are essential to her on a daily basis but also tells a lot about her - her quirks, her disposition, her priorities in life.

Here’s what’s inside mine: a couple of spiral notebooks, a pen, an umbrella, sunglasses, a paperback, a handkerchief, lipstick, my house keys, iPod, a USB flash drive, and my company ID card – things that I can’t do without. I bet others have more interesting stuff in their bags than these things in mine.

People always give me that nonplused look when I tell them that I don’t bring my cell phone or my wallet when I go to work. It gives me a reason not to buy anything on impulse and an excuse for not responding to text messages I don’t want to respond to or to take calls I don’t want to take. By now everyone who knows me has learned to send me an email, and not an SMS, when they want to contact me. It’s like setting boundaries and saying, you can only reach me when I want to be reached.

So what's in your bag?

I don't normally bring my main wallet, too. But a simple purse that contains a reasonable amount. But I always bring two mobile phones. =) In addition, I bring a flashlight, chocolates and water bottle.

Thanks for sharing, Wits and Amelia.

I used to always carry two mobile phones, too. That's when my ex wanted me on a leash. Good riddance to him AND the phones. haha

Witsandnuts, a flashlight?

i don't like carrying a heavy bag, so i usually just bring a few essentials - lipsalve, keys, wallet, phone, mini planner, and kleenex tissues.

hi kayni. i hate heavy bags too. i always wonder how people can lug around multiple bags including their laptops..

the regulars in my bag are: purse, phone, notebook, pen, usually a book, water bottle, keys, and yeah lighter-flashlight (it's sometimes dark on my way home and i like to go home when it's dark)..

Alam mo, Vitchie, hindi nga ako bumibili ng load eh. mas ginagamit ko ngang alarm clock yung cellphone ko. :)

a pencil case. that means you use different colored pens as well as pencils, markers, erasers..? ganyan kasi ako when i was a student. my notes were all color coded. :)

bringing just enough money can be both constraining and enabling (which reminds me of gidden's structuration. LOL)

wallet with all the cards i need, coin purse, lip balm, umbrella, tissue, spiral notebook and pens, keys, nail cutter, hair brush, fan, a small bottle of alcohol, and flash disks.

yes my bag could weigh 2 kilos for these things... and yes, i still bring with me my laptop bag stuffed with other paraphernalia. :)

but on Wednesdays, i try my best to keep my loads light. ;)
