unconvincing, implausible and blah

Wednesday, March 11, 2009

I’ve recently watched three hype-producing, award-winning, critically acclaimed, supposedly good movies: Gran Torino, The Reader and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. Contrary to popular perception, though, I find all films totally unconvincing, implausible and just plain blah. Watching movies presupposes suspension of disbelief but as I sat down and continued staring at the flickering screen, listening hard to what’s being said and trying to comprehend what’s happening, my incredulity mounted. Then boredom set in.

I can’t help but wonder, do those movies really stink or is it just me?

i think these movies are no worse than "portnoy's complaint" or "the world according to garp" in blahness.

as what my husband said after we watch The Reader, it is something that the people of today (something in our age) will not gonna appreciate and most probably will end up in boredom. but for me it's something that has meaning and looking on the other side of the story...again, it depends on person who is watching the film or the story it wanted to convey...this shows that people are equally different from one another...others may like it but some will not :)

haven't seen any of the three either... but i could share your sentiment... almost every other night for a month now, husband and I would watch movies on our laptop, and there were movies we've seen that we thought were just complete waste of our time... should've slept instead. :)

you are right amelia. movies are a matter of taste and preference.

hi jac. sleep has become a luxury nowadays. much moire ore precious than seeing a crappy movie. :)

I haven't seen any of these films. The last flick I've seen on big screen is Marley and Me. Right now I'm enjoying the DVD marathon at home (Pink Panther 1, Ghostbusters, We Are Marshall, etc.)
