"Ah, two days on that magical island offered almost enough beauty and happiness to justify one's existence. And how close they'd come to making it work! It still took his breath away, imagining it, a lifetime with this woman. Even now he would've jumped at the chance, though the drawn, emaciated woman...was almost unrecognizable as the one true love of is life."
- Richard Russo, Empire Falls, 2001

What is wrong with this woman? Is she anorexic or dying of consumption? :)
neither. she suffered a lot.. it's a sad, sad story..
What is wrong with you.
First you read about incest, pedophilia, murder, prostitution, bestiality, memory loss, incessant rain, insomnia, etc. and now story about a woman who went through hell.
Then there's the book a about a man and a whining boy pushing cart with a bad wheel on the road that you are so excited about. :)
it's sounds like the Seven Deadly Sins, huh? you forgot about irreverence and using the name of FSM in vain.. hahahah
And you dare villify Cormac!!! you've got some nerve, mister!! :)
Vilify and loathe!!
"...they nooned in the middle of the road"
Precisely chosen words! Hah!
I midnighted in my tent.
you villify and loathe it, yet you quote from it too!! is that a case of cognitive dissonance? :)
