Writing from Schiphol International Airport, Amsterdam

Saturday, June 18, 2011

I'm here at Schiphol International Airport with seven hours to kill and an hour of free wifi. I almost did not make my connecting flight to Amsterdam because of all the hassle the airport personnel at both NAIA and HKIA gave me. A lone Filipina flying to a foreign country MUST BE scheming to land a job in her place of destination. She can't possibly be a traveler out to have some fun with her guy in that country she's been dreaming of. For them, it just can't be possible.

Opinionated strangers can be quite a nuisance, but welcome to europe. I hope you enjoy the food and the views.

hi Angeli :) I just can't seem to understand why our Filipino IO are misjudging their countrymen...it happened also to my sis-in-law... they gave her so much hassle that she wan't able to catch her flight and was asked to provide an invitation letter...wtf! anyway....take care and enjoy your most awaited and planned vacation :)

That kind of profiling is really unfair. By the way, take care and enjoy your trip! I'll be looking forward to your photos.

damn it.., that's classic.. suspicion against own countrymen.. i experienced that a few times both from airport and airlines staff in our country. if we could only tell them that our reality is their fantasy and if they could only understand what we mean by that.. and if we could tell the people in the destination airport that not all Filipinos are after their country, their men, their wealth, or whatever they think they have that is so indespensable..
