Sexy

Wednesday, April 21, 2010

A friend’s recent status update got me thinking about what “sexy” is. The image of Maximus played by Russell Crowe in the movie Gladiator instantly came to my mind. And it’s not his biceps that I find alluring but his commanding presence and air of authority. There is something infinitely attractive in a guy who knows what he is doing and is capable of admitting it if he’s not. Appealing, too, is that tall, fifty-something guy I’ve seen several times in our office building who made bald sexy by the confident way he carried himself. Looking at him, you would think that hair is merely a distracting accessory he is better off and can do without. And of course, I find D sexy for his lack of concern for how he looks. He knows he could get away with it simply by the density of his character. Men with enough personality and magnetism can always make looks a non-issue. A guy who spends much of his time with his nose buried in a book I find sexy, and not the one who prefers to pump iron in a gym.

(P. S. I can’t help but laugh at myself when I later found out that the tall, bald guy I was talking about who looks like Marlon Brando's Col. Kurtz in Apocalypse Now is Mr. Araneta, the owner of the building.)

I find my husband sexy...noy because he has six packs on his abs or muscles on his biceps or triceps or whatever you may call it. I find him sexy and attractive because he is not insecure about himself...he does things that a really father do, he is a hands-on-dad :) and am so damn proud of it ;)

hmm, i think the same criteria applies with women, but maybe not as much as in men?.. because men have the tendency to see the physical attributes (aka vital statistics, hehe) rather than the overall energy/aura of a woman? but i guess it depends on the man, :0) as there are men who tend to go for physical beauty, as there are also men who look for the overall attribute.

though i go to the gym, i do not find those who are pumping irons attractive, not unless they are balanced, with intellect, wit, gracefulness and humor.... as of now, i haven't seen one yet who measures to my liking, or maybe i demand/expect too much? haha..

@vitchie

i used to go the gym. one day i asked my muscles the difference between a stairmaster and the stair in my building; the difference between a shiny chrome dumb bell and gallon of water, the answer was the same "stay away from them you'll be very sore". :)

@unstranger: no, i've not spoken to him. i've only seen him thrice (in the elevator). he goes off at the 23rd floor and i at the 29th. not enough time even for a quick chat. :)

@nina: i prefer george carlin over george clooney. hahaha

@vitchie: wow. you go to the gym? you must have those washboard abs na? :)
