they resolved to wait and be patient

Tuesday, December 4, 2007

“…there already glowed the light of the renewed future, resurrection to a new life. Love resurrected them; the heart of one contained infinite sources of life for the heart of the other. They resolved to wait and be patient…. And until then, how much unbearable pain, what infinite happiness!”

- Fyodor Dostoyevsky, Crime and Punishment, 1866

Will you or I ever get rid of the "unbearable pain and attain infinite
happiness"?

Rodion Romanovich Raskolnikov and Sofya Semyonovna Marmeladov were willing to wait and be patient for seven years to attain infinite happiness. And we are, too, right? :)

There is no you or I. There is only us. The pain we have endured will be replaced by infinite happiness together. With love on our side, how can anything go wrong?

Are you with me? :)
